But those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength,
that they mount up with wings like eagles,
that they run and do not grow weary,
that they walk and not grow weary.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
Hope that is delayed makes the heart uneasy;
But when what one desires comes, it is a tree of life.
Hope
Yes, the Bible says that we should cast everything on the Lord and that HE is our hope. Our divine hope. A never-ending hope.
But what about our human hope? In most cases, we only turn to God and ask for His help when we have exhausted our human possibilities. Or we try everything in our power and at the same time pray for success and for our prayers to be answered.
But the nature of our worries also means that God does not respond as we hope. And that is exactly the situation I am experiencing at the moment.
It may sound ridiculous, but my biggest concern right now is my cat's health. He is now 10 years old and has had some serious health problems this year. He had a tumor in his eye that eventually had to be removed. And after he recovered from that, he began to lose more and more of his sense of smell and taste. After many more visits to the doctor and unsuccessful attempts to find a different food, I am slowly losing hope of being able to help him. Even my prayers have not helped.
Do I have to let him go now? Watch him starve? I'm slowly starting to feel a certain despair. And I feel that my hope of finding a solution is diminishing and my helplessness is increasing. I hope that I can avoid having to make the decision to put my cat down.
But all I have left is to cling to God. He, who created all living things, can intervene at any time. But sometimes we experience that God, to whom everything is possible, does not react as we expect. And loved ones and animals, to whom we have attached our hearts, are not helped.
Then we are in danger of doubting God because we cannot understand his actions.
And with all the miracles I have experienced in my life and the knowledge that every situation, no matter how negative, has a positive component, I hold on to HIM and continue to hope.
You too should remain firm in HIM and hope only in HIM.
I WISH YOU HIS STRENGTH AND HIS BLESSING FOR THE ADVENT SEASON.
