The year 2023 is not only an exciting, blessed year for me, but also an emotionally challenging year in many ways. There are now three weeks left of this year and I'm looking back to the beginning of this year. What was very special for me was that at the beginning of January I had the impression that an article about the current annual slogan should appear on this website every month. So “You are a God who sees me” Genesis 16:13 has accompanied us over the last 11 months and has remained alive. The fact that it was possible to find a different author for this article every month is ultimately not my achievement, but entirely God's.
I can ask people and maybe motivate them a little bit, but God himself gives the fruits. For me personally, it was definitely a benefit to be able to read a different post on the same verse every month.
And I cannot deny that this makes this verse particularly valuable and alive for me. I have had this verse in my head in many everyday situations and it has strengthened me in many emotional situations. And not only is he alive in me and my thoughts in everyday situations, he has also supported and strengthened me in the emotional moments and crises this year. I hope that you readers feel and have felt the same way.
I know that this verse also has the potential to make you feel guilty. Because a God who always sees us means that HE also sees us in our mistakes and sins, and that can really unsettle you.
But God means well with us and therefore I understand this verse as encouragement and promise. And I hope that you, dear reader, felt the same way.
At this point I would like to point out the last article in this series, which will appear next Sunday (December 10, 2023).
However, as I look ahead to the New Year, I am full of anticipation of what God will do and change in all of our lives. In 2024 I would also like to give the annual motto “Let everything you do be done in love” 1 Corinthians 16:14 a permanent place on this website. Again, God willing, I will let 12 different authors have their say.
And if while reading you feel the desire to write a personal contribution to this verse, then don't hesitate and contact me at contact@thecornerstone.ch.
I wish you all a blessed Christmas season!
