A new look

At the beginning of last week I read two texts in the Bible that touched me deeply in a special way. It's almost as if my horizons have been broadened. But form your own opinion by reading them yourself.

I read it in the Schlachter 2000 translation.

Isaiah 12

The gratitude of the redeemed Israelites

1 And in that day you will say, ‘I will praise you, O LORD, for you were angry with me; but your anger has turned away, and you have comforted me. 2 Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid, for the LORD Yahweh is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation. 3 And you will draw water with joy from the springs of salvation. 4 And you will say in that day, ‘Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name, declare his deeds among the peoples, make mention of his name that it is exalted. 5 Sing to the LORD, for he has done glorious things; let it be known in all the earth. 6 Shout for joy and sing, you who dwell in Zion, for the Holy One of Israel is great in your midst.

Psalms 37

1 From David. Do not be angry with the wicked, and do not be jealous with those who do evil. 2 For they will quickly wither like the grass, and fade like the green herb. 3 Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and do truth. 4 Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the LORD, and trust in him, and he will do it. 6 He will make your righteousness to rise like the light, and your justice like the noonday. 7 Stand still before the LORD, and wait patiently for him. Do not be angry with him whose way prospers, with the man who practices deceit. 8 Turn away from anger, and turn away from wrath; do not be angry, for only evil comes of it. 9 For the workers of evil will be cut off, but those who wait for the LORD will inherit the earth. 10 Yet a little while, and the wicked shall be no more; and when you inquire where he is, he shall be no more. 11 But the meek shall inherit the earth, and shall enjoy great peace. 12 The wicked devises plans against the righteous, and gnashes at him with his teeth; 13 but the LORD laughs at him, for he sees that his day is coming. 14 The wicked have drawn the sword, and bent their bow, to fall the poor and needy, and to destroy those who walk uprightly. 15 Their sword shall pierce their own hearts, and their bows shall be broken. 16 The little that the righteous has is better than the abundance of many wicked. 17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, but the LORD upholds the righteous. 18 The LORD knows the days of the upright, and their inheritance shall endure forever. 19 They shall not be put to shame in the evil time, but shall have enough in the day of famine. 20 But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be like the beauty of the pastures; they shall perish, and shall perish in smoke. 21 The wicked borroweth, and shall not repay; but the righteous is merciful, and shall give. 22 For those blessed by Him shall inherit the earth, but those cursed by Him shall be cut off. 23 The LORD shall establish the steps of a man, when his way pleases Him. 24 Though he fall, he shall not be cast down, for the LORD upholdeth his hand. 25 I have been young, and I have become old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, or his seed begging for bread. 26 He is ever merciful, and willingly lendeth, and his seed shall be a blessing. 27 Depart from evil, and do good, and you shall endure forever. 28 For the LORD loves justice and will not forsake his faithful ones; they will be preserved forever, but the offspring of the wicked will be cut off. 29 The righteous will inherit the earth and dwell in it forever. 30 The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks judgment. 31 The law of his God is in his heart, and his steps will not stumble. 32 The wicked lie in wait for the righteous, seeking to slay him. 33 But the LORD will not abandon him to his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged. 34 Wait for the LORD, and keep his way; and he will exalt you to inherit the earth. When the wicked are cut off, you will see. 35 I saw a wicked man, a man of violence, who spread himself like a green tree with deep roots. 36 But when they passed by, he was no more; I looked for him, but he was not found. 37 Consider the innocent, and look upon the upright, for there is a future for the man of peace. 38 But the transgressors will all be destroyed, and the future of the wicked will be cut off. 39 The salvation of the righteous is from the LORD; he is their refuge in the time of trouble. 40 The LORD will help them and deliver them; he will deliver them from the wicked and help them, for they take refuge in him.

Be blessed!
