In a world that is often marked by hate, selfishness and strife, we can rightly ask ourselves: what is the love of God? To answer this question, we must embark on a deep spiritual journey and explore the foundations of the Christian faith.
When I was a little girl, I blindly trusted in God's love and acceptance. But over time, as I grew up, many circumstances, such as illnesses, made me doubt his love. Yet God proved himself to me more than a thousand times by supernaturally providing and caring for me. In the last year alone I've received over $10,000 in donations to support my Bible school, and every time I've felt even a little longing, someone, moved by the Holy Spirit, will knock on my door.
Still, we may feel that these experiences are not enough to defy the enemy's lies, and there's a reason for that: We don't live by what we see, but by faith, as the Bible says! Yes, we can experience wondrous miracles and the love of God, but they are not necessarily there to make us believe, but to show us the overwhelming love of Christ.
The Bible teaches us that God loves us unconditionally, even when our circumstances sometimes lead us to believe otherwise. Romans 8:38-39 encourages us: "For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, neither angels, nor mights, nor authorities, neither things present nor to come, neither high nor low, nor any other creature shall separate us from the love of God, who is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Amidst life's challenges and times when we doubt our faith journey, it is important to remember that God's love does not depend on external factors. While our experiences and miracles can encourage and strengthen us, they are not the foundation of our faith. Our faith is based on the firm belief that God loves us, that he cares for us, and that he is faithful to keep his promises.
The enemy will always try to sow doubt in our hearts and make us believe that God does not love us or that our experiences are not enough to strengthen our faith. But we can overcome these lies with the truth of Scripture. Ephesians 2:4-5 tells us, "But God, who is rich in mercy, in his great love with which he loved us, even though we were dead in sins, made us alive with Christ by grace you are saved."
So let us not be guided by our feelings or external circumstances, but by our firm belief in the love of God. He has shown us that his love is unwavering and he will always care for us even when we can't see it. Our experiences may give us amazing glimpses of God's love, but our true trust should be that He loves us unconditionally, always and forever.
May the love of God shine in our hearts, enabling us to withstand the lies of the enemy as we grow in faith and come to know the truth of his love.
