Today the time has finally come. For some, Christmas is a celebration of love spent with friends and family and for others this day is the birthday of Jesus Christ. And while some are already in the kitchen preparing the evening meal and wrapping the last gifts, others are preparing the birthday present for Jesus. But what can you give an almighty God?
After getting up in the morning, you go to the bathroom to take a shower, brush your teeth, shave, put a little deodorant under your armpits and a good aftershave on your cheeks. (For women the process is similar and yet a little different). Then you go to the cloakroom. You also want to dress smartly but modestly. Now you're ready for the family or for your birthday, depending. Really, have you thought of everything? Or is there still something crucial missing?
And now we come back to those who go to Jesus' birthday party. Here’s to the gift we can give our amazing God. HE who has everything is most happy about a repentant heart. And the physical cleansing and sprucing up should also include the cleansing of the soul and heart. Don't complain, but give thanks, don't ask but pray for forgiveness, for the sins you know by name and the sins you commit unintentionally and unknowingly. With this step WE have prepared and wrapped the most beautiful gift for HIM.
NOW, only now, are we ready to celebrate HIS birthday with Jesus Christ.
